Bottom Ash / Fly Ash Handling

Bottom ash from incinerators can be gathered in the dry or wet states. To enhance heat utilization, dry type is selected. A wet system using submerged chain conveyor (SCC) is popular but inefficient.

Either pneumatic or mechanical conveyors can be used to transport ashes to storage silos. Various discharging devices were applied for different bulk materials, including clam-shell dumper, inflatable elastomer valve, screw feeder, and rotary valve.
